I like cool new features in software. And I am especially proud of those in the upcoming AFT Fathom 9. We expect this new version to be available in the next two months. Below I will touch on some of the new features I think will be of most interest to you.

Graphing

Let me start by talking about my favorite new feature in AFT Fathom 9. Namely, the new graphing capabilities. Here is a summary of what to expect:

  • Multiple graphs can be displayed concurrently in various forms including stacking and tiling
  • Graphs are persistent and automatically updated when the model is modified
  • Graphs can be generated and updated through the Quick Access Panel
  • Graph sets can now be assembled into "graph groups" which allows a family of graphs to be automatically generated
  • Graph sets and graph groups can ne duplicated
  • Annotations can be added to graphs

Computational

  • Three-K method for pressure loss in fittings to cover the laminar to turbulent range of conditions
  • Equivalent length pressure losses in fittings

GIS Importing

  • GIS files can be imported

Other

  • Design Alerts for junctions
  • New Weir junction
  • New paste preview mode
  • Output diagrams which clarify results for things such as pumps and pipe heat transfer
  • New and improved searching method for multi-variable goal seeking – useful for model calibration

As you can see AFT Fathom users have a lot to look forward to. Let us know your thoughts!
