FLORHAM PARK NJ, October 2, 2026 -- Datacor today announced that TrackAbout, its cylinder inventory management & tracking platform, has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the Innovation Award at the World Liquid Gas Association (WLGA) Global Technology Conference (GTC). The GTC takes place during Liquid Gas Week 2026, held October 12 to 16 in Istanbul, Türkiye, under the theme "Resilience in a Changing World."
The finalist entry, "AI-Driven Vision Technology for Cylinder Identification: A New Approach to LPG Asset Management," presents vision AI technology that can help LPG distributors increase cylinder turns, reduce cylinder loss, protect revenue, and strengthen compliance.
TrackAbout's AI-powered software reads the serial numbers, manufacturer marks, test dates, and other indicators stamped on the cylinder from photos, speeding up the process of cylinder registration by as much as 3 times. Operators can register cylinders from photos in the TrackAbout mobile app and scan full pallets with fixed cameras in high-volume operations, which can reduce the time cylinders sit idle waiting. Each capture produces a time-stamped visual record that distributors can use for audits and for resolving disputes over cylinder ownership, location, or status.
"LPG brings energy to homes and businesses around the world, and resilience in this industry requires assets to keep moving and records to hold up," said Elizabeth Wallace, VP of Product at Datacor. "Our mission is to give distributors revenue protection that drives growth, and we've developed innovative implementations of AI in TrackAbout that can strengthen an LPG company's resilience as it moves into the future."
TrackAbout customers have reported recovering 25 percent of lost revenue in previously unaccounted assets within the first year and reducing daily return processing time by as much as 75 percent. Cylinder inventories of 5,000 to over 1.5 million are managed on TrackAbout.
"Distributors can add this value to support the barcode and RFID systems they've already invested in," said Wallace. "The working capital recovered from fewer lost cylinders, and the lower cost of managing each one, can fund fleet expansion, new technology, and entry into new markets."
Wallace will present the entry on the main stage on October 13 during the session titled Global Technology Conference Session 1 with the Liquid Gas Week theme, "Resilience in a Changing World."
The Global Technology Conference (GTC) is the World Liquid Gas Association's conference, founded in 2006, dedicated to technology and innovation in the liquid gas industry, which WLGA describes as the only global event with that focus, covering both LPG and renewable DME. The conference is designed to showcase original technologies and developments from around the world that can open new opportunities for the LPG industry. The WLGA Global Innovation Award recognizes the most outstanding innovation presented at the GTC, and for GTC2026, 10 papers were selected through a competitive process for presentation in Istanbul. Category awards also recognize outstanding contributions in specific subject areas, which have included Safety, Operations and Logistics, Applications, and AI, Digitalisation, and IoT. Nexio Power received the GTC2025 Innovation Award for its work on heavy-duty LPG trucks.
