In 1981 Datacor’s industry-leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, Chempax, originated as a custom, chemical-industry specific application running on a System/34 created for one chemical company. It was quickly realized, however, that this solution was much more. Due to its chemical industry focus Chempax was not just a solution for a single company; it was a solution for an entire industry. Expanding beyond the initial installation, Datacor sold Chempax to local chemical companies before it was introduced to the national market in 1982. Later the same year, Chempax upgraded to the IBM System/36.
Datacor’s chemical industry focus and commitment to producing and evolving the best software solutions possible has called for using the best in class technology. In 1985 Datacor introduced a PC stand-alone version of Chempax and in 1988 migrated from running on IBM’s System/36 to the IBM AS/400.
In 1994 and 1995, Datacor created Visual Basic and Client Server versions of Chempax, Chempax VB and Chempax C/S. Proof of Datacor’s longevity in the chemical industry and dedication to product advancement is evident through these products as new versions of both platforms are still being developed, updated, released and utilized by customers today. Also in 1995, Datacor hosted its inaugural Chempax user education conference, Interaxions. In May 2011, Interaxions will celebrate its 17th annual convention.
