I like cool new features in software. And I am especially proud of those in the upcoming AFT Fathom 9. We expect this new version to be available in the next two months. Below I will touch on some of the new features I think will be of most interest to you.
Graphing
Let me start by talking about my favorite new feature in AFT Fathom 9. Namely, the new graphing capabilities. Here is a summary of what to expect:
- Multiple graphs can be displayed concurrently in various forms including stacking and tiling
- Graphs are persistent and automatically updated when the model is modified
- Graphs can be generated and updated through the Quick Access Panel
- Graph sets can now be assembled into "graph groups" which allows a family of graphs to be automatically generated
- Graph sets and graph groups can ne duplicated
- Annotations can be added to graphs
Computational
- Three-K method for pressure loss in fittings to cover the laminar to turbulent range of conditions
- Equivalent length pressure losses in fittings
GIS Importing
- GIS files can be imported
Other
- Design Alerts for junctions
- New Weir junction
- New paste preview mode
- Output diagrams which clarify results for things such as pumps and pipe heat transfer
- New and improved searching method for multi-variable goal seeking – useful for model calibration
