FAQ
- Can I continue using CHEMCAD 8, instead of installing CHEMCAD NXT?
Not recommended. CHEMCAD 8 no longer receives updates or development. Staying on CHEMCAD 8 means missing critical fixes and new features. Switch to CHEMCAD NXT to stay up to date with the latest program improvements and full support. - Can I open CHEMCAD 8 simulation files with CHEMCAD NXT?
Yes. Any simulation with a .ccsim file extension will open natively in CHEMCAD NXT. - Does CHEMCAD NXT support all workflows and features of CHEMCAD 8?
Yes. All CHEMCAD 8 features are fully supported in CHEMCAD NXT, along with additional features. - What are the differences between CHEMCAD 8 and NXT?
CHEMCAD NXT the following additional functionalities:
- Multi-core processing
- Advanced Sensitivity Analysis, including additional distribution methods such as Monte Carlo
- Multi-Objective Optimization
- Azeotrope Search
- NIST REFROP integration for property calculations
Aside from these enhancements, CHEMCAD NXT uses the same underlying code base as CHEMCAD 8, ensuring identical calculation results and full file compatibility.
- Is my current licensing compatible with CHEMCAD NXT?
We will provide you with a new license file to activate CHEMCAD NXT, along with the steps needed to complete the setup.
- Will this affect our contract in any way?
No. Your contract terms remain unchanged. - Will this affect pricing?
No. Your pricing is not affected by this transition. - What are the minimum system requirements for CHEMCAD NXT?
The system requirements for CHEMCAD 8 are sufficient to run CHEMCAD NXT. If your system uses a multi-core processor, CHEMCAD NXT can take advantage of that capability for faster calculation, but the program also runs efficiently on a single-core processor. - Can I use CHEMCAD 8 and CHEMCAD NXT simultaneously?
This is possible, but not necessary. All .ccsim files are equally compatible with both versions, and you can run more than one instance of CHEMCAD NXT at the same time. If you have created or updated a file in CHEMCAD 8, it will open directly in CHEMCAD NXT and the simulation results will be identical. - Can I convert CHEMCAD 7 files directly to CHEMCAD NXT?
Yes. Copying a .cc7 file to create a .ccsim file is the same procedure in CHEMCAD NXT as it is in CHEMCAD 8. - Do I have to change or recompile my User Added Modules (UAM) project?
No changes are required. You can copy the usradd.dll you compiled with your CHEMCAD 8 project into the CHEMCAD NXT directory and use your UAMs immediately. You may also copy your source code and header files into the CHEMCAD NXT UAM folder if you prefer to replace the corresponding files there.
